OBITUARIES
James J. Zurbola
Ashtabula-James Zurbola died on Sunday, January 4, at the Austinburg Rehabilitation Center. He was 58.
Born in Ashtabula in 1939, Zurbola lived in Lakewood for more than 20 years before moving back to Ashtabula. Over the years, Zurbola used his creative talents as an employee of several upscale department stores, including Halle's, May Company, and Higbee's.
To many of his friends and acquaintances, Jim, or "Lady Z,” as he was lovingly known,
Obituaries
brought new meaning to the words “drag show." In addition to countless weeks of rehearsals, he was often involved with the lighting, sound, set scenery, and directors of productions. His professionalism and flair had seldom been seen before, friends said. He acted as a mentor, giving unknown talent the ability to believe in themselves. A genius at heart, Jim gave life and meaning to the phrase "We are all Stars."
From casts and crews too many to mention-we thank you, Lady Z.
